welcome to Lucerne and welcome to famous The Bürgenstock Resort!
Ever since the opening of the Grand Hotel on the Bürgenberg in 1873, and over the many years since then, the Bürgenstock Resort has been a legend. This is thanks to the morst beautiful panorama with the lake on one side and the mountains on the other side but it is also due to its connection with many celebrities and the glamour of Hollywood. Audrey Hepburn got married here (I am the biggest Fan of her wedding dress!!!), Charlie Chaplin was a regular guest, and Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti made the resort their home. So I can tell I am feeling kind of VIP here during my SPA Weekend 😉
PINK STAY
We stayed two nights at the Waldhotel Health & Medical Excellence– a place of healing and relaxation. Designed by star architect Matteo Thun, the façade of the terraced building has a sunny southern aspect and blends harmoniously into its natural surroundings. And the best: from the inside you have the feeling to see the nature outside through a wooden frame. Well, one of the best paintings I have ever seen 😉
In genreal you can book a lot of treatments here not only a “typical” Spa trip but also:
– general check ups
– weight management programs
– activity programs
– detox programs
– mind set programs (which I think is super interesting for people that travel and work very much like I do)
and many more.
PINK FOOD
Not really often that I had the chance to try a refreshingly creative cuisine like the one of the Verbena Restaurant. It is defined by the principle that flavour and healthy eating are not necessarily mutually exclusive. The use of regional and seasonal products and fresh ingredients (delivered just around the corner) of the highest quality guarantees maximum nutritional content. I especially loved the view with the green landscape and the white mountain peaks of the Alps also for breakfast. And I am pretty sure you will spot some cute cow
PINK SPA
The Waldhotel offers a very pretty spa area that is super calm and never crowded which is always very important to me. I just don’t like to share a Sauna with 10 other people ;). Also they offer fresh drinks and dried berries to always stay healthy! My favourite place defiantly was the Salt Grotto. Never forget to breathe!
PINK TIP: If you want to see the famous Bürgenstock Alpine Spa with its stunning infinity pool you can get a day pass for it and change to this spa for a day.
PINK SIGHTS
Bürgenstock Resort offers a free boat ride to Lucern which is a super nice day trip to do some shopping and sightseeing!
The other highlight is the The Hammetschwand Lift at 1,132 metres, is the highest outdoor lift in Europe. Really a breathtaking view!
So dear Audrey, I definitely can understand now why you chose this place as your wedding location!
